15 Most Forgotten Airbnb Amenities

Even a super host might be focused on the greater amenities and forget about the simple things in life. And that’s why here we are with a list of things that normally hosts forget but can be quite useful. These might just be the most convenient additions that you can make to your property.

Door Markers

If your Airbnb doesn’t have a door marker, it will put your guests in an awkward situation, where they will be wondering and checking the Airbnb app to confirm if they are attempting to open the right door. Having a trail marker will make it easy for your guests. It can be as simple as a small Airbnb logo or a welcome sign.

Curtains

Curtains are a basic feature, at the end of the day when the sun has set most of us like to close the curtains for privacy and disconnect from the world for the night, and so do your guests. Make sure you have something like curtains or blinds in all the rooms. No guest will enjoy the feeling of being watched by a set of unknown people in an unknown neighborhood.

Portable Fans

A comfortable temperature is a very subjective value, it varies from person to person, even within a family. Regardless of the fact that you have provided air conditioning or ceiling fans, you should keep portable fans available for use by guests. It’s advisable to put the fan in a room where it can be noticed by the guests easily. This will make it easy for your guests to access it when needed.

Face Wash

Most Airbnbs have common toiletries like shampoo and soaps in their bathroom and many hosts go an extra mile by providing lotion, conditioner, makeup remover, and cotton balls. But most miss out on a common item that is part of almost everyone’s routine these days, a face wash. Good hotels have a special bar of soap for the face. You can follow the suit with a gentle face wash.

Night Lights

Whenever we enter a new place, we find it hard to navigate through the place in the dark. If your partner’s sound asleep, turning on the light is not viable. You can fix some night lights at places that make navigating through your Airbnb easy for your guests. You can put yourself in a situation like that and figure out the places where you need to fix a night light. A family with kids staying at your place will really appreciate this.

Water Filter

When we travel we see that water taste changes from place to place. But the problem can be solved if you make available a water filter to your guests. You can add a water filter like a Britta pitcher to your Airbnb house. This will add to your guest’s comfort and this will also help you save the environment as the guests will be less likely to use plastic water bottles when they have a water filter.

Ice

Ice can be something that can be easily forgotten, but if your place has ice, your guests will really love it. You already have the fridge right? Just add an ice tray to your freezer compartment and keep a small stock of ice. Most people these days prefer ice when having any sort of drink. It’s an easy thing to add.

Sharp Knives

If you have mentioned that your Airbnb has a kitchen, some guests will book your place to cook. While cooking we need knives that work well. In most Airbnb, the knives are mostly very dull, which has become a hallmark of Airbnb travel. You can make yourself different by putting sharp knives. Keep a reminder to replace the knives or keep a knife sharpener around.

Cooking Oil

Just like the last one, cooking oil is also an essential part of the kitchen when the kitchen is the selling proposition of your Airbnb. In most Airbnbs you will find basic items like salt, sugar, pepper, etc. but cooking oil is often missing. You can opt for non-stick pans and some good olive oil for your guests to cook meals they would love.

Broom and Dustpan

You might wonder why your guests will need a broom and dustpan since they are not going to be the ones cleaning the house. Well, amenities are found missing when the need for them arises. What if they accidentally break a glass or something that needs to be cleared. Many guests like to deal with the mess they have created and a simple broom and dustpan will make their lives easier.

Full-length mirrorsWhen people travel, they are going to doll up and want to wear all their cool vacation outfits. Whether they are staying for a wedding, honeymoon, business, etc, all these people will want a full-length mirror to examine their outfit as a whole before they move out. Make sure you give this amenity to your customers.

A chair for workingWith the rise in remote working and workation, many people stay for a longer time for work. Hence, they will need a suitable chair to use for long hours. Hence, Airbnb hosts should look into adding small workspaces that can accommodate laptops, a few books, etc. A good, comfortable chair is also necessary.

Carbon monoxide detector Fire extinguishers are found everywhere. But the fire isn’t the only possible hazard. Carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer for very rightful reasons. This can be deadly. Hence, you can get carbon monoxide detectors which are easily found in the market and can be installed just as easily on the walls.

Multi-toolMost Airbnbs don’t have basic tools assuming people won’t need them. But such handyman stuff is something you should provide them with. It is better to give them an option. A multi-tool is a great option and includes most things that the customers might need.

Pens

While Airbnb can have all the great amenities, it will have you running around for a simple pen. We don’t expect to need pen and paper on vacation but there are multiple purposes for booking an Airbnb. Hence, it is better to have a pen and paper around just in case your customers are looking for it.

Such simple and everyday items can make a huge impact on your Airbnb. Make sure you create a checklist from this and step up your game!
