Airbnb Summer Release: Answering Host’s questions

Airbnb Summer Release was released in 2022 after gathering feedback from communities, centers, emails, clubs, etc. From the top concerns, Airbnb has opened up and answered the queries of hosts. Here are the top 3 of these comments and the response that Airbnb gave.

A host commented that they found writing their own titles interesting as it made them stand out. They asked if Airbnb would bring it back to the search results.

To this, Airbnb responded that they will indeed add back the title writing. They also explained why they removed it in the first place and when hosts can expect it to be back.

Airbnb states that they removed this liberty because personalized titles were giving out an uneven outlook to the customers. The lack of uniformity in titles made it harder to guests to compare the listings and reduced the quality of the overall experience. Hence, they decided to remove it.

They also made the photo grids bigger as that makes a stronger impression. But as a result, they had to cut down on description.

Hosts can expect this feature to be back but the title will be restricted to 32 characters and Airbnb suggests that one uses characters and not emojis for the title.

Another host expressed concerns about their profile not gaining enough visibility. They wanted to know if others were facing the same issue or not.

Airbnb clarifies that there can be multiple factors affecting the visibility of the profile. Hence, they outlined some ways by which the guests are accessing the profiles.

Airbnb states that they have noticed how most guests search and scroll through the “All homes” tab and this might be affecting your visibility. However, they are looking deeper into the statistics to derive proper conclusions. Airbnb suggests that hosts should optimize their pages, categorize well, and refine their map searches as well. All these efforts will surely pump up the visitors.

One question came up regarding Airbnb categories. The host asked where they could find their listing in the categories. And whether they can be in multiple listings or not.

Airbnb talks about how categories were added with the intention of showing customers so many options that they themselves wouldn't know about. They say that the main purpose is to help guests discover places and allow hosts in all locations and specialties to expand.

Airbnb says that additional categories might not be a specific thing but hosts can optimize their profiles, provide complete and accurate information enough for them to land their listing into a good category, and increase their visibility. Hosts can enhance their profiles by adding stunning photos, quality descriptions, etc. All such elements will help them improve their performance.
